The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) is a Washington state-based organization devoted to promoting gun rights. Founded in 1974, SAFs mission is to promote a better understanding about our Constitutional heritage to privately own and possess firearms. To that end, we carry on many educational and legal action programs designed to better inform the public about the gun control debate.
In recent years, SAF has filed legal challenges to gun restrictions in a number of cities, including San Francisco, Chicago, and Washington, DC. SAFs publications include Gun Week and Women & Guns. In 2009, SAF opposed Sonia Sotomayors nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court as a slap at gun rights and the Second Amendment.
