The Independent Women's Forum is a conservative research and educational organization. According to its website, IWF's mission is to promote values including economic liberty, personal responsibility, free markets, strong families, and a powerful national defense.
Despite its name, IWF actually opposes many, if not most, feminist causes. It receives funding from a number of right-wing foundations, such as the Sarah Scaife Foundation, the John M. Olin Foundation, and the Carthage Foundation. Lynne Cheney (former VP Dick Cheney's wife) and former John McCain advisor and conservative lobbyist Nancy Pfotenhauer are former directors of the organization. Michelle Bernard is IWF's current president.
The group is affiliated with Independent Women's Voice, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit.
