FreedomWorks is a conservative advocacy organization based in Washington, DC. Originally founded as Citizens for a Sound Economy in 1984, FreedomWorks adopted its current name after merging with Empower America in 2004. The group is currently chaired by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX).

According to its website, FreedomWorks recruits and mobilizes volunteer activists to fight for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom. As such, the organization is sometimes characterized as a right-wing version of MoveOn.org. However, FreedomWorks is run by corporate lobbyists, not grassroots activists. FreedomWorks has been a prominent opponent of the Obama administration, most notably by organizing Tea Party protests across the country in April, 2009.
