Exxon Mobil is the "world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas company." In 2008 alone, Exxon Mobil contributed $6.1 million to "to organizations that research significant domestic and foreign policy issues and promote informed discussion on issues of direct relevance to the business community and Exxon Mobils operations." Each year, Exxon Mobil spends millions on lobbying and political expenditures. For instance, in 2008 alone, Exxon Mobil spent $29 million on lobbying activities.
