The Center for Union Facts (CUF) is one of many corporate front groups created by conservative lobbyist Richard Berman, who is known for his work on behalf of the tobacco, alcohol, and fast-food industries. According to its website, CUF seeks to gather information about the activities of the labor movement and expose abuses of power by unions, though the organization denies that it is fundamentally against unions. CUF opposes the Employee Free Choice Act. In 2009, CUFs political arm, the Employee Freedom Action Committee, ran ads opposing the bill that likened union representatives to mafia thugs.
