CIGNA Foundation

A member of AHIP (Americas Health Insurance Plans) and provider of employer-based health insurance, CIGNA is opposed to any effort to reform health care or health insurance in the United States. CIGNA runs a PAC that supports more Republican than Democratic candidates and spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on lobbying Congress on issues that include the sale of health insurance across state lines, health information technology, patient privacy, and Medicaid/Medicare. CIGNA has also worked with the tobacco company Philip Morris to ensure that its advertising was not adverse to the tobacco firms goals.
