The Atlas Economic Research Foundation was founded in 1981 by Anthony Fisher. Fisher played a prominent role in the libertarian movement, having also established a variety of other groups, including the Institute of Economic Affairs, the Manhattan Institute, and the National Center for Policy Analysis. Atlas plays an important role in establishing, training and supporting libertarian think tanks around the world.
