The American Association of Educators is a California-based teachers' organization staunchly opposed to teachers unions such as the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. AAE, closely linked with National Right to Work, holds that "professional educators should be free from all forms of involuntary membership and endorsements." The AAE states that many of its members object to "the political agenda of teacher union bosses" and the "knee-jerk union obstruction of school reforms." In addition, AAE endorses "more local control of education, greater parental involvement, and higher standards of excellence and accountability for all stakeholders."
