Smear: Carol Browner Is A Socialist

September 17, 2009 10:01 am ET

Carol Browner, Director of White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, is a Socialist who will implement her radical ideas that will violate freedoms.

Smear: Carol Browner is going to implement radical policies into American life.

"By appointing Browner to a White House post, Obama has at the least implicitly endorsed an utterly radical socialist agenda for his administration's environmental policy. The incoming chief executive thus strengthens critics who contend environmental policies aren't really about protecting endangered species or preserving virgin lands, but rather expanding government power and limiting individual freedom." Truth

President Obama's point person on energy and climate change is Carol Browner, formerly, the longest serving Administrator in the history of the Environmental Protection Agency.  During the Clinton Administration, Browner played a key role in strengthening the Clean Water Act and the Clean Air Act.  Many of her policies and recommendations were summarily reversed or ignored by the Bush Administration.  After leaving the EPA, Browner briefly worked with Socialist International on climate change issues.  Socialist International is comprised of more than 170 political parties and organizations around the world including  ruling parties in Australia, Japan, Hungary, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom.  Far from being a radical, Browner believes that the United States should work towards lowering carbon emissions and other pollutants that are accelerating global warming.  The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change notes that "[t]he Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice and rising global average sea level."
