Rep. McHenry Falsely Stated The CBO Said Waxman-Markey Would Raise Costs By $1,400
During a town hall meeting on August 19, 2009, Rep. Patrick McHenry misled his audience by stating the Congressional Budget Office estimated the American Clean Energy and Security Act would cost Americans $1,400 annually. In reality, this legislation would create 1.7 million American jobs, reduce harmful emissions and help America become more energy independent, all for about the cost of a postage stamp a day.
