Rep. Boehner Misleads On Planned Parenthood Funding

On July 24, 2008, Rep. John Boehner released a statement in opposition to federal funding of Planned Parenthood.  Boehner stated that "taxpayer dollars should not be used to aid the destruction of innocent human life." However, he failed to acknowledge the fact that federal money given to the organization does not fund abortions.

Reviving a months-old Republican attack on "Pelosi's mouse," House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today decried that $16.1 million in stimulus funds were recently allocated for two wetlands restoration projects in San Francisco, CA.  "Speaker Pelosi must be so proud," he said.  However, while the projects were awarded funding by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, they were NOT in the stimulus bill and were never Pelosi's idea in the first place.

GOP Can't Pick A Number On Cap-And-Trade

In a blog post on May 18, 2009, Rep. Jason Chaffetz said: "The Left obviously does not want taxpayers to know the real cost of the tax-and-trade scheme." However, Republicans have claimed, over the course of five days, that cap-and-trade could cost $1,500, $2,200, $3,000, and $3,100, as opposed to the $150 estimate released by the Environmental Protection Agency.  It would seem that it is those on the Right who don't want people to know the true cost of cap-and-trade.
