Oil Companies Bankroll "Experts" In New Anti-Regulation Infomercial

As the debate over cap-and-trade heats up in the Senate, the Competitive Enterprise Institute has released what it calls a "documentary" on climate change. The video, Policy Peril: Why Global Warming Policies Are More Dangerous Than Global Warming Itself, is an attempt to downplay the risks associated with global warming.  CEI fails to note, however, that a host of "experts" interviewed in the video are employed by organizations that have accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from America's largest oil companies.

Heritage Foundation Sings The Praises Of Insurance Company-Owned Lewin Group

In a July 29, 2009 blog post, the Heritage Foundation heaped praise on the Lewin Group, writing, "the Lewin Group is an independent and well-respected national health care and human services policy research and consulting firm." In reality, the Lewin Group is merely a subsidiary of UnitedHealth, and its studies are buried if their clients don't like the results.

Heritage Researcher Misleads On The Cost Of The American Clean Energy And Security Act

On July 29, 2009, Heritage Foundation research assistant Nicolas Loris falsely claimed the American Clean Energy and Security Act would cost American families $3,000 per year. In reality, this legislation would create 1.7 million American jobs, reduce harmful emissions and help America become more energy independent - all for the price of a postage stamp per day.

Heritage vs. Reality:  Global Warming And The Poor

On April 22, 2009, the Heritage Foundation posted comments from Religion and a Free Society fellow Ryan Messmore in which Messmore asserts that the poor will suffer "in the name of environmental protection" as a result of the President's cap-and-trade policies.  However, not only does Messmore miss the mark on the effect of the so-called "cap-and-trade" taxes upon American citizens, he also neglects to consider the effects upon the poor if no action is taken to counteract global warming.
